The first week of 2024 saw a light week of some basketball and not so kind to some local teams. The Doyline Panthers and the Lakeside Lady Warriors picked up the only wins for the week.
Doyline Panthers (15-2) handed the Griffins its first loss of the season. Keidric Clark led the Panthers with 18 points. Despite the loss, Glenbrook (0-8) Carson Powell also had a top performance this week with 18 points in a loss to Castor. Haynesville and Lakeside battled in Claiborne Parish on Thursday night but came up short. Anderson was the top scorer for the Warriors with 17 points.
Lakeside Lady Warriors crushed Haynesville 30-9 on the road last Thursday. McKenzie Chase was the top scorer for the Lady Warriors with 12 points. Glenbrook and Doyline came up short for the week.
Minden and North Webster enjoyed the last week of the holiday break before a full slate of games will kick off this week.
With the playoffs coming in a couple of weeks, let’s take a look at the power ranking updated by GeauxPreps.com. In the Non-Select divisions (Doyline, Lakeside, Minden, and North Webster), the top 28 schools will be awarded a playoff spot. In Select divisions (Glenbrook), the top 24 teams will be awarded a playoff spot. According to these rankings, a quick assessment of what the first round might look like for each team.
