Springhill suspect arrested on outstanding warrants

Springhill police arrested a local man on a variety of felony warrants, including three counts of distribution of CDS Sch. II (crack cocaine) and possession of a firearm by a felon, after he was taken into custody following a brief foot chase.

Springhill Chief of Police Will Lynd said 30-year-old Cardarius Dwayne Norton has been booked for resisting an officer by flight and additional warrants for simple criminal damage to property (two counts), illegal possession of stolen property, on a bench warrant for failure to appear and on a probation and parole hold.

Lynd said his office received a tip that Norton was at a local fast food restaurant and officers C. Edgell and K. Rankins responded. At the establishment, officers reportedly identified the suspect and attempted to place him in custody.

While officers attempted to search the suspect, a struggle began and Norton reportedly managed to escape and ran between buildings on South Main before he was recaptured.
