Auction coordinators, WPJ collaborate on information

In 1976, Minden businessman, Pete Treat, lost his daughter, Anne, to cancer, and he wanted to help the place where she was treated with such love and care. That was the beginning of the Minden St. Jude Auction more than 48 years ago. (Courtesy of Dorcheat Historical Museum.)

It’s less than one month before the annual Minden St. Jude Auction takes off, and here at Webster Parish Journal we want to ensure the public knows all the ways they can help.

A meeting Tuesday between our staff and auction workers produced story ideas that will keep the spotlight on the auction, thus raising more money to help children with cancer.

For instance, did you know you can already purchase T shirts? Just go to mindenstjude.com for details.

Also, slots are almost filled to cover the phones, but more volunteers are needed at the concession stand and other ways.

Did you know the site to build the playhouse changed this year? We will tell you why.

Young Women’s Service Club will have their ever-popular St. Jude Kids Day again. (See the story tomorrow.)

There are many aspects to the auction and much hard work goes into it. Watch Webster Parish Journal over the coming weeks for more details and stories that will make you proud to be a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital supporter through our Minden auction.

T-shirts are on the website.
