Parkway Junior Varsity Panthers 7, Glenbrook Junior Varsity Lady Apaches, 5
Despite a 6-run deficit in the third inning, Glenbrook Junior Varsity Lady Apaches almost came all the way back, eventually falling 7-5 to Parkway. Lady Apaches closed the gap by scoring on an error, a walk, a fielder’s choice, a ground out and a single.
Chloe Gregg led the Lady Apaches with two hits in three at-bats. Amelia Lott, Addison Chanler, Gregg and Savannah Magnum each drove in one run for the Lady Apaches.
Magnum took the loss for Glenbrook. She went two and two-thirds inning, surrendering is runs (zero earned) on three hits, striking out six and walking three.
Saturday, Feb. 17
Lakeside Lady (Varsity) Warriors 13, Parkway Panthers, 10
There were runs aplenty Saturday, as Lakeside Lady Warriors outshone Parkway Panthers 13-10. The Lady Warriors collected 17 hits, while Parkway had seven.
Emily Jones collected three hits in three at-bats in the win. Jones hit a home run to right field in the fifth inning, doubled in the second inning and singled in the fifth inning.
The Lady Warriors tied in the game in the bottom of the second, thanks to a groundout by Payton Levesque and a single by Mackenzie McCoy.
The ladies took the lead in the bottom of the third. Kaitlyn Squyres doubled, scoring two runs to give them the advantage 5-3.
The Lady Panthers captured the lead 7-5 in the top of the fifth, but the Lady Warriors flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the inning, scoring eight runs on seven hits to take a 13-7 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Hallie Sutton that drove in two.
Raleah Harris pitched four and one-third innings in relief for Lakeside. The reliever allowed two hits and four runs (two earned) while striking out five and walking three. Sutton stepped in the circle first for Lakeside. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and six runs (three earned) over two and two-third innings, striking out two and walking three.
The Lady Warriors tallied 17 hits in the game. Harris and McCoy each collected four hits for the Lady Warriors. Squyres led with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup.
Lakeside 3, Converse 13
Lakeside Lady Warriors had trouble keeping up with Converse Saturday.
Rhea Waller pitched three innings in relief for the Lady Warriors. The righty gave up four hits and four runs while striking out one and walking four. Hallie Sutton opened the game for Lakeside. The righty allowed four hits and five runs (one earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking two.
Waller, Harris, Mackenzie McCoy, Rainie Hughes and Teal Austin each collected one hit for Lakeside. Waller went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in.
