City Marshal adds to his roster

Not many folks retire one day and go to work practically the next, but that’s exactly what happened with former Webster Parish Sheriff’s Lt. Felecia Brown.

Brown, who retired last week after 25 years with the parish Sheriff’s Office, took the oath of office Friday as Deputy City Marshal, Ward 1, working under Marshal Dan Weaver. Brown will also handle duties as probation officer for Minden City Court Judge Sherb Sentell.

“We’re extremely blessed to have Felecia come on board with us,” Sentell said following the swearing-in ceremony. “She brings to the court a professionalism and the kind of experience that would take someone else years to achieve.”

Brown served as the Sherif’s probation deputy, spending her time in the courtroom working in conjunction with judges and the District Attorney’s office. There, she coordinated court rulings and offender compliance.

“She will step right in and immediately take on duties that are very important to our court,” Sentell said. “I am more than confident in her ability and I know her performance will be excellent.”

“We are so happy to have Felecia join our office. There’s no doubt she will perform her duties as a deputy marshal and and city court officer in ways that will be beneficial to both,” Weaver said.

His decision to seek Brown was an easy one, Weaver added.

“We had an opening in our office and Felecia retired at just the right time,” he said. “This was an opportunity we just couldn’t allow to slip through our fingers.”
