
Webster Parish Police Jury Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is hosting a Disaster Preparedness Event from 9 until 11 a.m. September 6 at the Community Activities Center Building at 301 W. Church Street in Springhill.
Brian Williams, Executive Director of WPOHSEP said the event will be an opportunity for various agencies to discuss with the public how to prepare for various types of emergencies and answer any questions.
“This event will ensure our citizens have the knowledge and skills to prepare for various types of emergencies,” Williams said.
Representatives will be on hand from the Webster Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP), Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, National Weather Service Shreveport, Pafford EMS, Springhill Fire Department, Springhill Medical Center, Springhill Police Department, Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office and Webster Parish 9-1-1.
Some topics that will be discussed include preparing for disasters, such as floods and tornadoes, evacuation plans and disaster kits, fire safety and importance of smoke detectors, what information to know when dialing 9-1-1, and how to properly mark your residence or business to assist emergency responders with locating you in the event of an emergency.
A second event is being scheduled for south Webster Parish in the future. Details on that event will be released as soon as it is finalized.
