By Paige Gurgainers

The Little Warriors went up against Bastrop’s Beekman Charter last Saturday, Sept. 28 at Lakeside, winning 13-0.

The third/fourth graders put in hard work on defense. “We were able to make multiple turnovers and get the ball into our offense’s hands that led us to two touchdowns,” said coach J.W. Perkins.

Greyson Davidson was named offensive player of the game. He caught a pass up the middle earning a crucial first down for the Warriors, leading them to their second touchdown.

The defensive player of the game went to Ryder Wyatt, who made multiple stops preventing Beekman from getting on the scoreboard.

The fifth and sixth grade boys suffered a tough loss, allowing Beekman Charter to score in overtime ending the game 12-6.

Brandon Jackson scored on another long touchdown run to even the score early on while Tripp Glass and Landrie Myers were all over the field again making tackles left and right.

“We were down three starters going into the game, but we were able to take the game into overtime where we ultimately fell short,” said coach Andrew Simmons. “A lot of our ‘little’ Little Warriors showed up in a big way to fill in for the starters that were absent.”

According to Simmons, Caleb Kidd, Reed Powell, Grayson Dauer and Maddox Thompson all stepped up in various spots on the offensive and defensive lines and did an admirable job.

The Little Warriors will be traveling to Monroe for their next game against Ouachita Christian School (OCS) on Monday, October 7 at 5:30 p.m.
