It’s hard to believe the annual Minden St. Jude Auction is quickly approaching. Event organizers have already been hard at work preparing, but the first step – landing on a theme.
With 2025 marking the amazing 50th year milestone of the auction, it was not an easy task, but they are excited to “Thank You for Being a Friend” and ask that you “Stay Golden.”
This theme will stay on trend with the well-known show, the “Golden Girls” and have a very 70’s feel to it explained St. Jude Auction Chairwoman Laura Hollingsworth.
“We got permission to use the ‘Golden Girls’ tune and are excited to have everyone singing along with us this year,” said Hollingsworth. “We are so proud as far as fundraising goes to have made it to 50 years. According to logistics most fundraisers similar to ours only make it to about year 10, so this is a big accomplishment.”
While most milestones such as this one are usually accompanied by a celebration, this one will be a somber one for the Minden community.
“It’s hard to celebrate something like this, when we wish it wasn’t necessary, but we are happy to have made it this long and be able to continue helping as much as possible. St. Jude has had several amazing breakthroughs over the years, but it’s not a party yet. The true celebration will happen when we no longer need to do this anymore.”
But until that time comes the Minden St. Jude Auction is going to continue to do all they can to celebrate the small steps as they hopefully make their way closer to a cure.
According to Hollingsworth, the “super community” of Minden has already been making donations for raffle items that are available on their website with things being added almost daily. The coveted St. Jude t-shirts will be available in the upcoming weeks for pre-orders, as well.
