In an emergency, having healthcare services nearby is essential. That’s why residents of Springhill and its neighboring areas now have access to the latest Emergency Room in around.
Today, Pete Johnson, CEO, announced the official opening of Springhill Medical Center’s new 6200 square foot Emergency Room, marking a $1.6 million investment in both the hospital and the community. “The current Emergency Room, which was originally built in the 1970s and has seen various updates over the years, has become too small to meet our needs,” he explained. The Board of Directors at Springhill Medical Center approved an investment of $823,125 to bring the new ER project to fruition, supplemented by a USDA grant of $776,875.
“We are thrilled about the opening of our new Emergency Room and the services we can now provide to Springhill and the surrounding communities,” said Kristin Cole, BSN and Chief Nursing Officer. “This new Emergency Room marks an important milestone in the history of Springhill Medical Center,” she added. Cole emphasized that the upgraded facility, featuring a larger ambulance bay, improved decontamination room, and expanded triage, waiting, and treatment areas, will significantly enhance the patient experience.
The new Emergency Room will boost capacity from 4 to 7 treatment rooms, including 2 fast track treatment chairs for low-severity cases, as well as a larger trauma room designed to handle more critical situations.
Springhill Medical Center is a 48-bed acute/geriatric psychiatric hospital operating two rural health clinics and an outpatient physical therapy clinic. The hospital will be celebrating 50 years of service to Springhill at its current location later this year. For more on Springhill Medical Center go to www.smccare.com.
