Lady Warriors pick up two, drop one

Lakeside 12, Northwood 0

McKenna Chreene homered to center field in the top of the first to get the Lakeside Lady Warriors off to a good start in their 12-0 win over Northwood.

Chreene then singled in the top of the second to extend the Lakeside  lead to 4-0 in the top of the second. MaKensie Hamiter doubled in the third and Ella Wood singled to drive in runs.

Four more Lady Warriors crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 10-0. Emily Jones homered to center field, scoring two runs, Ella Wood doubled in one and an error scored another.

Wood earned the win for Lakeside, giving up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out two and walking none.

Lakeside had 10 hits in the game with Jones, Moose Jernigan, Chreene, and Wood each collecting two hits, Chreene led the team with three runs batted in.

Lakeside 14, Beekman Charter 1

McKenna Chreene collected three hits, including a pair of doubles, in four at bats to lead the Lakeside Lady Warriors past Beekman Charter, 14-1.

Lakeside scored 11 runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach. Chreene started the parade with a two-RBI single and Meredith Robinson singled to score one. An Emily Jones ground-out pushed another across.

A two-run single by Raleah Harris was followed by a MaKensie Hamiter RBI single, a Beekman error produced two runs, and Maggie Mandino singled to score the final two runs.

Two runs scored in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI doubles by Jones and Teal Austin. Beekman’s lone run came on a solo home run in the top of the fifth.

Moose Jernigan earned the win for Lakeside, giving up just two hits and one run over five innings. She recorded five strikeouts and no walks.

Lakeside collected 12 hits in the game. Jones led the way on a two-for-three day with three RBI. Mandino also collected two hits in three at bats. Lakeside Varsity Warriors stole four bases in the game.

Logansport 15 Lakeside 14

A walk-off home run by Logansport’s Ainsley Morvan left the Lakeside Lady Warriors on the wrong end of a 15-14 score Monday.

Lakeside collected 15 hits in the high-scoring affair and managed to take a lead in the top of the first when Meredith Robinson grounded out, scoring one run. The Lady Warriors added to that early lead in the top of the second inning when Ella Wood doubled to center field and Madilynn Squyres grounded out, each scoring one run.

Another Lakeside run scored in the third when Raleah Harris singled to right, making it 4-0, but Logansport responded in the bottom of the third on a three-run homer by Emmarie Atkins.

Logansport took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when a Lady Warriors’  error sent three runs across to give Logansport the advantage, 6-5.

Lakeside recaptured the back-and-forth lead, 9-6, in the top of the fifth after a pair of Logansport errors was followed by a Rhea Waller RBI double and a passed ball.

Logansport exploded in the fifth inning for eight runs on five hits to take the lead, 14-9. The big blow in the inning was a double by Morvan that drove in three. Lakeside tied the game in the top of the seventh, thanks to  singles by Emily Jones and Harris, and a fielder’s choice from Squyres.

Morvan earned the win for Logansport while McKenna Chreene took the loss.

Harris led Lakeside at the plate with four hits in five at bats. Teal Austin, Robinson, and Waller each collected multiple hits. Kennedi Smith and Morvan each had three hits for Logansport.
