Doyline drops two over weekend

Doyline ran into a pair of buzzsaws in weekend baseball play, dropping games to Calvary Baptist of Shreveport and Red River of Coushatta.

Calvary Baptist 14, Doyline 0

Calvary Baptist got it going early on a run-scoring error and a Christian Ashworth double to go up 3-0 in the bottom of the first. The Cavaliers added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning with four more, then scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning.

Grayson Powell earned the win for Calvary Baptist, allowing three hits and over five innings, striking out nine and walking three. Dario Galvez took the loss for Doyline.

James Dodge, Jonas Florence, and Zack Moseley each had one hit for the  Panthers. Morgan led Calvary with two hits in two at bats.

Red River 11, Doyline 1

Red River scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning to start things rolling in an 11-1 win over Doyline Saturday.

John Dickey earned the win for the Bulldogs, giving up two hits over five innings while striking out 10 and walking two. Noah Spears took the loss for Doyline.

Dario Galvez, Jonas Florence, and Spears each collected one hit for Doyline. Red River had 11 hits in the game, led by Martinez, Dickey, and Luke Williamson with two hits each.
