UCAP fundraiser Thursday night

What’s it like to be hungry? What’s it like to have no money for food or to pay your light bill? The people who depend on UCAP know, and so will attendees after Thursday night’s event.

UCAP United Christian Assistance Program will be having the annual Dessert Auction Fundraiser at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 20.

“Through the years, many of our faithful supporters/bidders have gone to their forever home with Jesus, so we need others in our community to consider filling those chairs,” Kevin McCann reported on Facebook. “It’s a well organized event and will only last a couple of hours.”

Soup and crackers, will be served as a reminder that meals would be more than some can afford.

Cakes, pies, fudge, Oreo Balls, and other desserts will be provided for Richard Campbell and Tracy Campbell to auction.

“They make it a lot of fun,” McCann added.

All proceeds go to UCAP which is funded by donations from local churches and individuals.  All workers are volunteers, so there are no paid salaries.

“We help families, and individuals, in our community, who have financial setbacks, to get back on their feet,” McCann wrote. “You can be the hands and feet of Jesus by participating in this fundraiser.”

Minden First Methodist Church, 903 Broadway is the location. Purchase tickets at the door or from UCAP at 204 Miller Street. Cost is $5 per person. Children 12 and under free.
