Lady Tiders 9, Doyline Lady Panthers 2

Lizzie Balkom had a home run and two RBI to lead the Minden Lady Crimson Tiders to a 9-2 softball win over Doyline Friday.

Balkom’s groundout followed by a pair of extra base hits pushed the Lady Tiders into the lead in the bottom of the first inning and that was all for the day.

Lindsay Ryan picked up the win for Minden, giving up four hits and two runs while striking out 15 over her seven innings.

Lanie Gates was the only Lady Panther able to solve Ryan’s pitching for the game, finishing with three hits in four at-bats.

Northwood 9, Minden High baseball 3

A lead in hits doesn’t automatically translate to a win on the field, and Minden’s Crimson Tide learned the hard way Thursday, falling to Northwood 9-3 despite outhitting the Falcons by 11 to six.

Minden scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first on a Hudson Brown single and Jaxon Smith’s triple only to have the Falcons claim the lead in the top of the second.

Northwood scored five runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning to put the game away. One run scored on a Tide error, Jaxon Bentzler was struck by a pitch to drive in another, Landon Martin produced a two-RBI single and Nathan Cervantes followed with another RBI single.

Jack Carlisle went the distance to earn the win for Northwood. Smith took the loss for the Tide, going four and two-thirds innings and allowing only one earned run on three hits. He struck out two and walked five.

Brown, Smith, Bray Winston, and Landyn Huddleston each collected two hits for the Crimson Tide.

Bentzler led Northwood with two hits in two at bats and Martin went one-for-four and led the team with four runs batted in.

Minden 20, Summerfield 0

Landyn Huddleston powered two home runs and drove in six as Minden went on a scoring spree to defeat Summerfield 20-0 on Friday, giving the Crimson Tide a sweep of weekend contests.

Huddleston’s two-run shot in the bottom of the first put Minden ahead, then his grand slam over the center field fence in the second led the way as the Tide rolled up 16 runs in the inning.

During the inning, Jaxon Smith tripled, Landon Brewer tripled, Bray Winston singled, Kyler Ray doubled and Kaiden Kinsey singled to drive in runs.

Keegan Pope earned the win for Minden.

Minden had 12 hits in the game with Brewer and Huddleston each picking up two hits. The Crimson Tide also tallied eight walks and eight stolen bases.

Minden 4, Doyline 1

Topher Wilson, Bryson Ranger, and Landyn Huddleston each collected two hits as Minden capped its perfect weekend, downing Doyline on Saturday.

Minden put the game away in the first two innings on a Jaxon Smith RBI single in the first and RBI hits from Bray Winston (double) and Huddleston in the second.

Winston earned the win for Minden, allowing two hits and one run over four innings while striking out six and walking three.

Noah Spears took the loss despite recording 11 strikeouts. He went the full seven innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and walking two.

Jacob Jefferson stole two bases as the Tide stole five bases in the game.

Ayden Moreno-Taule, led the Panthers with two hits in three at bats.
