A rude awakening just before 6:30 a.m. Thursday at a local residence netted Minden police officers a quantity of narcotics and a 71-year-old man who was the subject of numerous warrants for distribution of illegal drugs.
Chief of Police Jared McIver said Bruce Wayne Moore was taken into custody when members of the department’s Special Response Team teamed with narcotics investigators and supporting officers to enforce arrest warrants at his home in the 1400 block of Webster Ave.
During a search of Moore’s residence, officers found a prescription pill bottle in his name containing 67 Ecstasy tablets. Officers also reportedly found a .357 revolver in the arm rest of a chair in the living room.
Charges filed against Moore in the four active warrants include distribution of CDS Sch. II (crack cocaine), two counts, and distribution of CDS Sch. I (synthetic marijuana), two counts.
Additional charges as a result of the Thursday raid include possession of CDS Sch. I (Ecstasy) with intent to distribute and illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of CDS.
McIver said Moore will be transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. He is being held on a total bond of $80,000 on the four warrants. Bond for the weapons and CDS Sch. I charge have not been set.
McIver said Thursday morning’s arrest came as the result of ongoing investigations into activities involving illegal narcotics by Narcotics Division detectives Lt. Kenny James and Lt. Shane Griffith.
“As we’ve always said, whether you live in an outhouse or a penthouse, if you’re dealing drugs in Minden we’re eventually going to catch you,” Griffith said.
