Even a move to Texas couldn’t help a former Minden man escape the Minden police or the Internet, and he is now in custody charged with firing shots into an occupied vehicle in January of this year.
Devonte Richardson, 17, turned himself in to Minden police Wednesday after he was featured in last week’s edition of Minden PD’s Most Wanted published in the Webster Parish Journal.
“Last week’s Most Wanted directly led to Richardson’s arrest and we want to thank the community for their part in helping us get this suspect in custody,” said Lt. Jason Smith, head of the MPD’s Criminal Investigation Division. “The assistance from the public we’ve received is gratifying.”
Richardson is charged with two counts of attempted second degree murder and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property. He currently is being held in a Jackson Parish penal facility under a $250,000 bond.
Smith said Richardson’s charges stem from an incident on Sims St. in Minden where he allegedly fired shots into an occupied vehicle, hitting it at least three times.
Richardson allegedly spotted the vehicle on the street, jumped from a rear window of a residence and began shooting. Investigators said multiple witnesses and other evidence gathered identified Richardson as the alleged shooter.
Immediately after the shooting, Richardson reportedly fled to Arlington, Texas to avoid apprehension.
