Minden High falls to Lutcher, trips to playoffs end

Lutcher 3 seed Minden 14 seed Division II Non Select

Lutcher’s Bulldogs ended the Minden’s trip through the LHSAA Division II (Non-Select) state playoffs with a pair of wins over the Crimson Tide by scores of 10-0 and 5-3.

First Game (Friday)

Lutcher 10, Minden 0

Number three seed Lutcher pushed across six runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat the 14th seed Crimson Tide in the opening game of the best-of-three series.

Cameron DeRoche earned the shutout for Lutcher, giving up four hits and over six innings, striking out nine and walking two. Bryson Ranger took the loss for Minden.

Landyn Huddleston went two-for-two to lead the Crimson Tide at the plate.

Game 2 (Saturday)

Lutcher 5, Minden 3

Ethan Detillier’s two-RBI single in the top of the eighth inning helped advance Lutcher to the state quarterfinals.

Minden scored all its runs in the bottom of the second when Topher Wilson singled to score one and Landyn Huddleston doubled, driving in two. Lutcher tied the game at three in the top of the seventh, setting the stage for Detillier’s game winner.

Davis St Pierre earned the win for Lutcher and Landon Brewer absorbed the loss for the Tide.

Hudson Brown, Keegan Pope, and Huddleston each collected two hits for the Crimson Tide. Detillier had three hits in four at bats for Lutcher.
