A 24-year-old Princeton man is facing serious weapon and drug charges for allegedly brandishing a firearm during a conversation with a local resident Sunday, and his alleged companion are looking at drug charges.
Chief of Police Jared McIver said Decorrey R. Bridges is looking at charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of CDS Sch. I (Ecstasy), possession of CDS Sch. I (synthetic marijuana) and obstruction of justice.
Simuel Malik Shaw, 25, a resident of the 200 block of Shane Dr. in Minden, is booked for possession of CDS Sch. I (Ecstasy), possession of CDS Sch. I (synthetic marijuana) and obstruction of justice.
Both men reportedly are being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. Bridges is facing a bond of $70,001. Bond for Shaw has not been set.
Officers reportedly responded to a call around 9:30 p.m. about an incident involving a firearm at the intersection of Marion and Young streets. Officers were told the suspect left the scene when a call was made to police headquarters.
According to statements, Bridges was a passenger in the vehicle and allegedly pulled a firearm, telling the victim he was “ready for anybody. What do y’all want to do?”
Complainants were able to give officers the make, model and license plate of the vehicle and officers located the black Hyundai Sonata parked at a residence in the 600 block of Evans St.
While officers conducted an interview with the occupants of the residence, Bridges reportedly attempted to exit through the rear door but was turned back when another officer approached. One occupant granted police permission to enter the residence and once inside, the officers reportedly found Bridges and Shaw inside a bathroom.
After successfully detaining the pair, a waiver of search warrant was signed granting permission for police to search the residence for items relating to the incident involving Bridges.
During their search, officers reportedly found one baggie containing four Ecstasy pills and another containing 6.9 grams of synthetic marijuana inside the toilet reservoir where the pair had been located.
Additionally, police reportedly found an AR-style handgun inside the return vent of an air-conditioning unit and a .25 caliber handgun plus multiple individual baggies of Ecstasy in the kitchen.
In the living room of the residence, officers reportedly found a partially smoked marijuana cigarette and a white baggie containing two grams of natural marijuana. Bridges and Shaw were charged pending further investigation into other items located common areas of the Evans St. residence.
