A Minden man has managed to rack up a variety of charges including threatening police officers after he was stopped for a number of traffic offenses.
Kurt Wayne Humphreys, a 41-year-old Sibley resident, is charged with careless operation, hit and run, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, resisting an officer and four counts of public intimidation as a result of the Friday incidents.
A Minden police officer reportedly observed a vehicle driven by Humphreys turn from Main St. onto Sibley Rd., leave the roadway and strike a street sign.
According to the officer’s report, the vehicle accelerated, reentered the roadway, crossed three traffic lanes and struck another street sign and an electrical box.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer reportedly noticed the smell of alcoholic beverage on the driver’s (Humphreys’) breath. He also observed several firearms inside the vehicle, including a revolver near the driver’s right leg.
Officers reportedly had to forcibly remove Humphreys from the vehicle after he refused multiple verbal commands to exit. As he was being transported to police headquarters, Humphreys allegedly mentioned his employer and claimed “…you don’t want to do this, he will fire all of you.”
At police headquarters, Humphreys reportedly continued to mention prominent names, allegedly telling officers “…y’all don’t know what y’all getting yourself into,” and “I’m going to tell you, you’re going to **** up.”
Humphreys reportedly refused multiple commands as officers attempted to place him in a city holding cell. He was later transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where was booked under bonds totaling $13,001.
