As part of the City of Minden’s 190th anniversary celebration, the Greater Minden Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the creation of a community time capsule, capturing a snapshot of life in Minden in 2026 for future generations.
The time capsule will be buried at Jacqueline Park on Thursday, May 7, in conjunction with the community’s National Day of Prayer gathering (7:30 a.m.), creating a meaningful moment of reflection, unity, and hope for the future of Minden.
The Chamber is inviting businesses, residents, students, and organizations to contribute items that reflect the spirit and story of the community today. Submissions may include letters to the future, photographs, small keepsakes, and materials that highlight daily life, local businesses, and community traditions.
“This is an opportunity for our community to come together and leave a lasting legacy,” said Stephanie Barnette, President & CEO of the Greater Minden Chamber. “By tying the burial of the time capsule to the National Day of Prayer, we are not only preserving our history—we are also expressing our shared hopes and vision for the future of Minden.”
The time capsule will remain sealed until 2076, offering future generations a unique opportunity to experience what life was like in Minden during this milestone year.
Community members are encouraged to submit items by Friday, May 1, at the Greater Minden Chamber office.
The National Day of Prayer event will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Jacqueline Park (396 Main Street) on Thursday, May 7, and all members of the community are invited to attend the ceremony and be part of this historic moment.
This initiative reflects the Chamber’s mission to support community connection, celebrate local impact, and preserve the legacy of the Greater Minden area.
