Blocking one lane of a city street with a parked vehicle, and an encounter with a police officer with a sensitive nose, got a Dubberly man in more hot water than a simple traffic violation.
Wesley Jermaine Johnson, 38, is facing charges of possession of CDS Sch. I (synthetic marijuana), possession of CDS Sch. II (methamphetamines) and possession of drug paraphernalia following his arrest Thursday.
He is also charged on an active arrest warrant and for obstruction of passages. Johnson is lodged at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center under a $20,000 surety or $250 cash bond.
Officer Kendale Booker reportedly found a vehicle parked in the roadway, positioned against the flow of traffic, as he patrolled MLK Blvd. at Joel St. just before 6 p.m.
After making contact with Johnson, the reported driver, the officer learned he was the subject of an arrest warrant.
During questioning, the officer reportedly observed Johnson’s suspicious behavior and called on his partner, K9 Reef, to conduct an open-air sniff around the vehicle.
After the K9 reportedly alerted positively, a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a glass pipe in the driver’s side door containing suspected methamphetamines residue. A search of Johnson at the scene reportedly revealed suspected synthetic marijuana concealed in his sock.
During an additional search of Johnson after he arrived at police headquarters, officers reportedly found approximately 0.3 grams of suspected methamphetamines located on his person.
