Two Minden artists – who work in totally different mediums – are potentially headed to the Top 15 in the online-driven “The People’s Artist” competition.

Voting for the Top 15 ends Thursday, May 21 at 7 p.m.

Paint and clay artist Chris Broussard and wood carving artist Craig Watson have continued to progress in the national contest, which offers a $25,000 cash prize, an article in Artforum Magazine, and a display of their work at The Art of Elysium’s Salon.

This particular contest is being hosted by actor Johnny Depp and is being powered by Colossal. “A lifelong creative across film, music, and visual art, Johnny Depp brings his passion for artistic expression to The People’s Artist, inviting creators everywhere to step forward, be seen, and support meaningful social impact through art.”

Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like The People’s Artist, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark, while also making a big impact.

The public is invited to vote for their artist “while supporting a great cause,” a spokesman for Colossal explained. “You can cast a free vote daily, or make an even bigger impact when you vote by donation, supporting the Art of Elysium in their mission to use art as a catalyst to help people triumph over difficult life challenges.”

Since 1962, Artforum has stood as the definitive magazine on modern and contemporary art, shaping critical discourse and spotlighting artists whose work influences museums, institutions, collectors, and cultural conversations around the world.

The People’s Artist Champion will land an exclusive exhibit at The Art of Elysium’s Art Salon in Los Angeles, a space dedicated to fostering community and celebrating creativity.
