A Doyline man wanted for probation violation is now facing more serious charges after illegal narcotics and a weapon were discovered inside his residence.
In addition to probation violation, Nicholas Wright, 38, has been charged with possession of CDS Sch. I (marijuana), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Wright was taken into custody Thursday at his residence in the 200 block of Ridge Lane by an officer with the state’s Probation and Parole office.
When the officer arrived at Wright’s address shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday, he reportedly observed a rifle beside a dresser in the bedroom. A check of the weapon reportedly revealed it was loaded.
A subsequent search reportedly uncovered a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana in a night table. Also reportedly found was a grinder containing suspected marijuana residue and a device commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics.
Wright, who reportedly is on probation for possession of CDS Sch. II, is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. No bond has been set.
