A Webster Parish man is facing a variety of charges after he allegedly discharged a weapon toward a vehicle, then led deputies on a foot chase through a wooded area north of Minden.

Sheriff Jason Parker said Samuel Ray Dance, a 43-year-old resident of the 1300 block Blue Run Rd. is charged with  aggravated assault with firearm, possession of firearm by convicted felon, illegal use of weapon, aggravated criminal damage to property and resisting an officer.

Dance is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center under a $51,500 bond.

Deputies reportedly responded to a disturbance call Wednesday (May 27) involving a firearm and learned Dance had been driven by an acquaintance to his mother’s Blue Run Rd. residence. Once at the home, Dance reportedly became involved in a verbal dispute with persons at the home.

When the person who had driven Dance to the residence decided to drive away, he allegedly pointed a .22 caliber handgun in the driver’s direction, then fired at the vehicle.

After interviewing the driver, deputies went to the Blue Run Rd. residence to investigate. As they arrived, Dance reportedly fled the residence into a wooded area. A foot pursuit ensued, but Dance reportedly managed to elude the officers.

During a patrol of the area one day later, deputies spotted Dance at the residence and took him into custody.
