Nearly striking two police officers with his vehicle while driving through the scene of a shooting investigation has put a Minden man behind bars on charges that include driving while intoxicated.
Rondell Antonio Hawk, 44, reportedly ignored police units with flashing emergency lights blocking the roadway, drove onto a sidewalk and nearly hit officers working the Talton St. crime scene Friday evening.
Officers managed to stop Hawk’s vehicle and noticed signs of impairment including incoherent, slurred speech along with glassy eyes and unsteady balance.
After Hawk was taken to police headquarters and given his Miranda rights, he reportedly admitted to consuming a pint of gin, three beers and a Lortab tablet.
Hawk is charged with DWI second offense, careless operation, no drivers license and failure to obey a police officer. He is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center under bond totaling $3,100.
