A former NFL running back returned to his roots for a special event recently to champion a cause.
Charcandrick West, along with his father Toccara Ford, was at Springhill Medical Center last week to talk with children about being Champions of Character.
West grew up in Cullen and became one of Springhill’s most celebrated athletes.
Now that he is retired from the Kansas City Chiefs, West spends his time with family and talking with children.
Last Thursday, he spent the morning talking with the children – not about football but how to be proud of themselves, explaining what integrity was and how to keep their integrity throughout their lives.
“Success isn’t based on how many touchdowns but by the choices that you make from here on out,” West said.
Springhill Medical Center provided snacks and drinks.
