It might have been 100 degrees, but the Village of Dixie Inn stayed cool for its second annual “Back to School” Bash Saturday, Aug. 1 from 2-5 p.m. at McClanahan Park. Police Chief Jeffrey McNeill said that nearly 50 school supply backpacks were distributed, while just under 200 kids and adults attended the event, which included free hot dogs and drinks, a 22-foot water slide, and a snow cone vendor. “The first snow cone for the kids was on us,” Chief McNeill said. “We’re trying to get Dixie Inn and neighboring communities more involved in Village activities.” he added. “We plan to grow the bash each year we put it on – at least as long as I am chief.” The water slide and snow cones were obviously the party favorites!! Assisting the chief and Mayor Donna Hoffoss were officers of the police department; Brandi McNeill, aldermen Judy McKenzie and Lance Milligan, and other volunteers.
