A Monroe couple is currently being held on a number of drug-related counts after they reportedly were found passed out inside a vehicle blocking a city roadway.
Chief of Police Jared McIver said officers responding to a welfare call Sunday at 9:45 a.m. found the vehicle stopped in the middle of Fincher Rd.
Witnesses reportedly told officers the vehicle had stopped in the middle of the U.S. Hwy. 80/Fincher Rd. intersection, turned onto Fincher and came to a halt.
Both the driver, 36-year-old Brock John Buckner and passenger, 38-year-old Megan Nicole Barnes, reportedly were unconscious when officers approached the vehicle.
Officers reportedly managed to wake the driver, 36-year-old Brock John Buckner. Before awakening his passenger, 38-year-old Megan Nicole Barnes, officers reportedly noticed a small red box in her lap, with a small plastic baggie protruding from the box.
Inside the box, officers reportedly spotted multiple small baggies containing a white residue. More small baggies and burned aluminum foil were also reportedly found on Barnes’ lap.
Buckner faces a variety of drug charges including possession of CDS Sch. II (methamphetamines), possession of CDS Sch. II (Fentanyl), possession of CDS Sch. IV (Clonazepam) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is also looking at counts of simple obstruction of highway, resisting by false identification and as a fugitive from Bossier Parish SO. He is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center under a bond of $8,002.
Barnes’ charges include possession of CDS Sch. II (methamphetamines), possession of CDS Sch II (Fentanyl) possession of CDS Sch. IV (Clonazepam) and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is currently in the parish jail with bond set at $7,501.
