There has been no measurable precipitation within the last week.

Extended forecast calls for mostly sunny each day and temperatures will be lows in the upper 80s and highs from 95F to 103F.

If we don’t see some measurable rain in e next coming week, we will be in a severe drought and wildland fire extreme conditions.

The following screenshots, depict a large heat dome over most of the south. The orange shades are heat warnings.

The other screenshots show, we are in a moderate drought and moderate fire danger.

Some fire departments have a sign in front of the department showing whether the wildland fire danger is low or extreme. Those are calculated each morning by NWS or U.S. Forestry Service.

Webster Parish has been added to the burn ban.

During extreme heat, remember to check on elderly and children. Make sure your pets have plenty of water and shade.

I use 35 gallons of gravity flow water. If you have a bucket for your dog, find an old tire and put the bucket in middle of the tire.  That makes it much harder to turn the bucket over..
