An apparent dispute over missing house keys has put a Minden woman in the parish lockup after she allegedly attacked a woman with a pair of kitchen knives.

Chief of Police Jared McIver said Deborah A. Jenkins, a 57-year-old resident of the 300 block of Lee St., is charged with aggravated battery for the early Thursday morning attack.

Officer Daveon Benjamin responded to a disturbance call shortly after 6:30 a.m. where he reportedly learned from a witness that Jenkins had been involved in a verbal altercation with the victim.

According to a statement from a witness, Jenkins was handling two kitchen knives and began swinging the knives toward the victim. The witness reportedly observed Jenkins cut the victim, then managed to take the knives from her. According to the witness, the victim did not appear to provoke Jenkins prior to the attack.

During questioning, the officer observed multiple small lacerations on the victim’s wrist. The victim reportedly did not want to seek medical treatment.

Jenkins is reportedly being held in the parish jail under a $10,000 bond.

This information has been provided by a law enforcement agency as public information. Persons named as suspects in a criminal investigation, or arrested and charged with a crime, have not been convicted of any criminal offense and are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
