Lucas Owens rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns, and Minden’s defense kept Bossier out of the end zone Thursday night as the Crimson Tide opened district play with a 39-0 victory at Bossier Memorial Stadium.
Minden improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in district after building a 27-0 halftime lead. Bossier dropped to 2-2 and 0-1.
Owens averaged 9 yards on 17 carries, scoring on runs of 2 and 5 yards. Javen Calloway added a touchdown catch and a scoring run, while quarterback Kaiden King threw two touchdown passes.
The defense held Bossier to 215 total yards, intercepted two passes and allowed just two conversions on 13 third-down attempts. Bossier converted only one of seven fourth-down chances and came away empty on all three trips inside Minden’s 20-yard line.
Minden took control on its opening possession, driving 62 yards in six plays. Owens supplied 38 rushing yards on the march, including a 20-yard gain, before scoring from the 2 with 9:44 remaining in the first quarter. Carter Martin’s extra point made it 7-0.
After the teams traded possessions, a short Bossier punt gave Minden the ball at the Bossier 30. Owens kept the drive alive with a 12-yard run on third-and-8, and King later found Calloway for an 8-yard touchdown on third-and-2. Martin’s kick pushed the lead to 14-0 with 3:08 left in the quarter.
Bossier threatened after recovering a fumbled punt return, moving to the Minden 18 before consecutive incompletions ended the possession early in the second quarter.
Minden answered with an 11-play, 82-yard touchdown drive. King connected with Ian Clark for 14 yards to open the possession and found Jaden Johnson for 13 yards on third-and-11. Owens finished the march with consecutive runs of 10 and 5 yards, extending the lead to 21-0 with 5:12 remaining before halftime.
Another fourth-down stop set up Minden’s final score of the half. Owens broke loose for 50 yards to the Bossier 1 on the first play, and Calloway eventually scored from a yard out with 34 seconds remaining. The extra point was missed, leaving Minden ahead 27-0.
Bossier opened the second half with a 54-yard kickoff return by Javeon Mitchell, but Minden again denied the scoring opportunity. On fourth-and-7, Abreon Curry intercepted a pass at the Minden 2 and returned it 40 yards.
The Tide added two touchdowns later in the third quarter. King hit Johnson for a 28-yard score on fourth-and-9 to cap a nine-play, 54-yard drive with 5:41 remaining.
Braylen Ferrell then intercepted a Bossier pass and returned it 26 yards to the Bossier 4. Jardon Carey scored on the next snap, making it 39-0 with 4:49 left in the quarter.
Bossier reached the Minden 4 on the game’s final play, but time expired with the shutout intact.
King finished 7-of-14 for 83 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Johnson caught three passes for 48 yards and added 38 yards rushing as Minden finished with 297 total yards, including 214 on the ground.
Demareya Bates led Bossier with 70 rushing yards on 19 carries. Shante Wells completed 10 of 26 passes for 88 yards and two interceptions.
