Minden Lions sold 800 chicken dinners Saturday during their annual fall Charbroil event in the Walmart parking lot.

Charbroil organizer Steve Cropper said it would be a while before all expenses are covered and a final dollar number is known.

 “We will experience a new bill this cook.,” Cropper said. “Sunday, one of our cookers (the big one) was a victim of a hit and run. Minden Police contacted me about 8:30 p.m.”

So far, the culprit has not been captured. Cropper said he called a wrecker service for towing Monday for repairs.

“There was damage to two of the three trailer jacks, damage to the trailer hitch, and damage to one of the side doors,” he said.

Minden Lions have their charbroil dinner fundraisers twice a year. They are the primary form of fundraising for all the club’s community projects.
