A routine traffic stop and expired vehicle registration led to the arrest of a Simsboro woman on more serious charges.
Peggy S. Williams, 68, was traveling on East Union in Minden when Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies reportedly stopped her for having only one headlight.
Sheriff Jason Parker said one of the deputies noted her registration was expired while the other observed a shotgun on the backseat of her vehicle.
“Deputies noticed the shotgun had a sawed off barrel and it was shorter than 18 inches,” Parker said.
Search of the vehicle reportedly yielded a glass smoking device with crystal-like substance inside, two small containers with crystal residue, a marijuana one-hitter and a used hypodermic needles.
She was booked into BDCC on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, modified firearm and drug paraphernalia. No bond was set.
