Tartan festival to return in 2028 for 25th anniversary

By Paige Gurgainers –

One of Minden’s longtime annual traditions will take a year off in 2027 as organizers prepare to celebrate a major milestone.

The Scottish Tartan Festival will take a planned hiatus next year before returning to Miller Quarters Park in April 2028 for its 25th anniversary celebration.

Organizer Shelia Hoh said the break will provide time to prepare for the milestone event while Miller Quarters Park undergoes upgrades aimed at improving the festival experience for visitors, clans, artisans, athletes and performers.

The annual festival has become a unique part of Minden’s event calendar, bringing Scottish culture and traditions to the community through music, food, demonstrations, competitions, vendors and other activities every Spring.

Although festivalgoers will have to wait an extra year for its return, Hoh said preparations for 2028 are already underway.

“We’re already hard at work behind the scenes, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back in 2028 for a bigger, bolder, and truly unforgettable Scottish Tartan Festival,” she said.

The group also thanked the community and longtime festival supporters for their continued enthusiasm.

More information about the April 2028 festival and its 25th anniversary celebration will be announced as plans are finalized. To keep up with other Scottish/Celtic related events, follow “Scottish Tartan Festival, Minden, Louisiana” on Facebook.
