A Minden man turned a traffic stop into a struggle involving multiple police officers and now faces a litany of charges including three counts of resisting an officer with force or violence.

Chief of Police Jared McIver said 42-year-old Maurcionio Iverson is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center following the encounter which began shortly after 11 p.m. Friday.

McIver said Sgt. Cadyn O’Connor observed a vehicle driven by Iverson exceeding the speed limit and driving with its high beams within 200 feet of another vehicle. When the officer activated his emergency lights, the vehicle continued several blocks on Bayou Ave. before entering the Webster Manor apartment parking lot.

Iverson reportedly attempted to pull away from officers as he was initially being restrained and the struggle continued until he was finally subdued. During the altercation, Iverson reportedly received a facial laceration and minor hand injuries.

According to the arrest report, Minden officers O’Connor and Austin Clouston received minor injuries.

In addition to three counts of resisting an officer with force or violence, Iverson is charged with disarming an officer, flight from an officer, violation of maximum speed limit, use of multiple beam road lighting equipment, no drivers license and on a fugitive warrant from Bossier Parish SO.
