Webster Parish Sheriff’s investigators have arrested a Shongaloo woman in connection with the reported Sunday shooting death of a man at a residence in the 1300 block of Hwy. Alt. 2 in Shongaloo.

Sheriff Jason Parker said deputies have placed the suspected shooter, identified as Lacy Mann, in custody. She is accused of firing the fatal shots which claimed the life of Earl Benson. 

According to Sheriff Parker, the shooting occurred around 5:53 p.m. Sunday. The suspect reportedly was taken into custody by patrol deputies around 6:12 p.m.

Parker said the investigation is in its very early stages and no further information on either the suspect or the deceased is available. Charges reportedly will be filed pending the outcome of interviews with the suspect.

Early information indicates the shooter and the victim are family members.
