Kayla Chandler of Minden participated in the September 27, 2026 Ironman 70.3 in Augusta, Georgia, finishing the three-event race in 07:24:33.

The excited sportswoman said that the hardest part of the race was “not panicking during the swim.”

“I actually said I’m never doing this again when I got out of the water,” she recalled. However, after finishing the run and the bike, she “loved it! So, I decided I would have to get better at swimming LOL!”

She’s now signed up to compete in the Chattanooga, TN Ironman next May.

“I actually beat Charlie’s (her husband) time LOL,” she laughed. Looks like there’s a little competition brewing at the Chandler house.

Kayla actually gets a lot of practice, participating in the Minden Runs and Minden Exercises organizations. Both are open to the public.
