Good weather, lots of activities welcome all ages to Halloween at The Rec

As the sun slithered through the dipping western clouds, goblins in all sizes converged on the Minden Recreation Center (the Rec) on Saturday, Oct. 31 to celebrate Halloween with candy, hot dogs, and other treats and games.

There was something for everyone, from scoping out the huge firetruck to bouncing and sliding from the colorful bouncy houses. A large crowd started trickling in before opening time, rushing folks who had their trunks still full. But everything came together as the skies darkened to night, the rain having cleared out earlier.

Kids, parents, and teenagers of all ages had something to do, including a tour of the Haunted House inside the Rec. The fees for visiting the Haunted House are used to supplement next year’s festival.

The annual event is sponsored by The Rec, the City of Minden, area law enforcement agencies and emergency services’ first responders, the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 173, and this year attracted a few politicians. (Photos by Marilyn Miller)
