JLFP ready to kick off feeding program

Joe LeBlanc Food Pantry has announced their summer feeding program will begin on June 20 and end on July 29.

In 2021, the program served 5,828 meals to Webster Parish children.

“2021 was our second year to run our annual summer feeding program,” said JLFP director Jessica Lewis. “We decided last year to break away from a state funded program and run our own funded completely by community donations. This allowed us the freedom to choose what we served kids.”

The program will be for Webster Parish children up to 18 years old. The food will be dispersed in a drive through style. Delivery will be available to those in need within the city limits of Minden. Parents must pre-register for delivery by calling 318-299-6375.

There will be some new items on the menu this year. The Food Pantry is working hard to provide meals that children will enjoy eating.

“We are so excited about this year’s program,” Lewis continued. “This summer’s funding is coming from the huge overflow we had from last year’s holiday fundraiser, Feed a Family.  Mrs. Katie (Lange) is working on our menu now, and we will be ready to serve Webster Parish the first week of summer.”

Drive through meals will be available for pick-up on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to work in the pantry and make deliveries. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the pantry at the number listed above.

“Additionally, we are asking that if parents know they are going to need delivery to their children inside Minden City limits, please contact us now,” Lewis said. “The more time we have to prepare our routes the better.”
