
The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where North Webster Knights came out on top against Quitman (LA), 11-7.
Quitman (LA) fired up the offense in the second inning, when Maddox Duck singled on a 2-2 count, scoring three runs.
North Webster Knights pulled away for good with seven runs in the third inning. In the third an error scored one run for the Knights, Cooper Sanders singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Jace Wesson singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs, Sawyer Wages doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs, and Judd Wesson singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Collin McKenzie took the win for North Webster. The righthander lasted six innings, allowing 11 hits and six runs while striking out six and walking zero. Sanders threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Logan Ponder took the loss for Quitman. The hurler allowed seven hits and seven runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one.
North Webster tallied 11 hits. Kyle Dinkins, Wages, Wesson and Sanders each racked up multiple hits. Sanders, Wesson, Wages and Dinkins each collected two hits to lead.
Quitman. collected 12 hits on the day. Kace West, Ponder and Riley Duck all had multiple hits for Quitman. West led with three hits in four at bats.
