
Minden’s Lady Tiders softball team turned things around over the weekend, claiming a pair of wins to stop a losing skid.
Minden 8 Simsboro 4
Lindsay Ryan struck out 10 batters in a complete game showing, leading the Lady Tiders past Simsboro Lady Tigers 8-4 on Friday. Ryan gave up four hits and four runs over the seven innings while walking three.
Minden turned the game around in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on five hits to take a 6-3 lead. Tatum Miller had three RBI in the inning.
Lady Tiders’ hitters collected 11 hits in the game, led by Ryan, Kaelynn Williams and Tatum Oliver with two hits each. Ryan, Williams, Oliver, Annabelle Toland, and Lizzie Balkom each drove in one run. Leigha Kennon Gilbert stole four bases.
Minden 10 Castor 4
A six-run explosion in the fourth inning helped propel the Minden Lady Tiders past Castor’s Lady Tigers 10-4 Saturday.
Charli Flournoy doubled, scoring one run, a dropped third strike scored one run, Kaelynn Williams singled to score another and Tatum Miller had an RBI single before Nola Lange drove in two runs with a single.
Castor opened the scoring in the first when shortstop Kaylie Shirley hit a solo home run, her first of two home runs in the game. Shirley added a solo home run to right field in the top of the seventh.
Lindsay Ryan earned the win for Minden, giving up eight hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking four.
Minden collected 13 hits in the game. Leigha Kennon Gilbert set the tone with three hits in four at bats and Lizzie Balkom had two hits in four at-bats. Ryan and Lange each collected multiple hits for the Lady Tiders.
Quitman 11 Minden 0
Quitman’s Lady Wolverines jumped out to an early lead Monday and never looked back while claiming an 11-0 win over the Minden Lady Crimson Tide.
In the top of the first, Quitman’s Maggie Guyotte doubled and Zoee Williams drew a walk, each scoring one run to give the Lady Wolverines all they needed.
Brenna Lamkin earned the win for Quitman, giving up pitcher four hits and no runs over five innings, striking out three and walking none. Gracie Sparks took the loss for Minden.
Lindsay Ryan, Leigha Kennon Gilbert, Sparks, and Lizzie Balkom each collected one hit for the Lady Tiders.
Next up for the Lady Tiders is a Thursday game at Zwolle.
