Tide takes pair of diamond wins over D’Arbonne Woods

Friday the 13th was a good day on the diamond for Minden, jump starting the Crimson Tide to a pair of wins over D’Arbonne Woods by scores of 17-13 and 10-0.

Keegan Pope drove in four runs on two hits to help lead Minden to its 17-13 win on Friday. Pope doubled in the first scoring two, walked in the first scoring one, and walked in the seventh scoring one.

Minden got on the board in the top of the first inning with a 12-run outburst on the strength of a Jaxon Smith RBI single, Pope’s double, and RBI singles by Bray Winston and Barron Bower wrapped around a bevy of walks from Timberwolves’ pitchers.

After a series of Timberwolves comebacks, the Tide pushed across five runs on one hit in the top of the seventh inning to claim the win.

Winston earned the win for Minden, giving up eight hits and 10 runs (nine earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking six. Ethan Thrash took the loss for D’Arbonne Woods.

Winston and Pope each collected two hits for the Tide. The Tide also took advantage of 19 walks issued by D’Arbonne Woods hurlers.

In a Saturday matchup, Minden scored six runs in the fifth inning to put the finishing touch to a 10-0 win.

Hudson Brown doubled to score three runs and Jacob Jefferson drove in one with a single, wrapped around a pair of Timberwolves errors.

Minden got the only score it would need in the first inning after Landon Brewer grounded out, scoring one run. A double by Bray Winston and a ground out extended the early lead in the second inning.

Jaxon Smith earned the win for the Tide, going five innings while giving up three hits and no runs and striking out two. Daltin Albritton took the loss for D’Arbonne Woods.

Derby Hanson, Dalton Albritton, and Grant Albritton each collected one hit for D’Arbonne Woods.

Minden travels to Haughton Tuesday to take on the Buccaneers.
