Election is June 27; some voters temporarily changing voting location

In a one-time move, Webster Parish voters in three precincts are being asked to vote in a different location.

Clerk of Court Holli Vining said voters in precincts 16, 28 and 31 will vote Saturday June 27 at Minden Civic Center, rather than their normal voting location – Minden Community House.

“Louisiana election dates are normally set several years in advance and polling locations reserve these dates,” Vining explained.”This past October, the Louisiana Legislature changed our spring election dates due to pending litigation involving congressional and legislative district maps.”

When this happened, the community house had already been reserved for some time for another function and was unavailable on election day.

This is one-time only, Vining stressed. In the next election, voters will return to their original location to vote.

On the parish-wide ballot is a Sales & Use Tax proposed by Webster Parish School Board. (See below.)

Town of Sarepta is requesting authorization to levy and collect a 2.50 percent sales and use tax to pay for capital improvements.

The U.S. Senate run-off is also taking place – republicans and democrats.
